Leaking pipes are a serious problem that can cause severe property damage. However, preventing leaking pipes is possible, and we are ready to share some simple advice. First, you should avoid chemical drain cleaners since most are corrosive and can wear downpipes, resulting in additional leaks. Second, don’t flush anything down the sink that shouldn’t be flushed. Third, blockages are caused by trash in your pipes, and clogs generate pressure, which causes leaks. If you have already found leaking pipes in your house, you need to contact us immediately so that we can fix the problem as quickly as possible.

This is a prevalent problem for homeowners with trees growing beside an underground sewer. It often happens with San Francisco, CA pipes, which were installed several decades ago. When the roots find leaks from the pipes, they begin to sprout there. This leads to the clogging of pipes due to the accumulation of debris. It is a really difficult and serious problem which you should fix immediately. Chosen Rooter & Plumbing knows how to solve this problem fast and efficiently using cutting-edge tools. We thoroughly deal with the roots and other debris and help you avoid it in the future.

A dripping faucet is usually caused by worn-out or damaged washers, seals, or cartridges inside the faucet. Over time, these components can degrade due to constant use, leading to leaks. In older faucets, mineral buildup from hard water can cause parts to wear out more quickly. To fix a dripping faucet, a plumber will typically inspect and replace the faulty parts. If the faucet is older, it might be worth considering a full replacement to avoid future problems.

Several factors can cause low water pressure. Common causes include clogged pipes due to mineral deposits or debris, a faulty pressure regulator, leaks in the plumbing system, or issues with the municipal water supply. In some cases, older homes with galvanized steel pipes can experience corrosion, which narrows the inside of the pipes, reducing water flow. A plumber will diagnose the issue by checking various points in your plumbing system and may recommend cleaning, repairing, or replacing the affected components.

Selecting the right-sized water heater depends on your household’s hot water needs. The size is typically determined by the number of people in your home and your daily water usage patterns. For a conventional tank water heater, you’ll want to consider the tank’s capacity and the first-hour rating (FHR), which indicates how much hot water the heater can supply in an hour. For example, a family of four typically requires a 50-gallon tank with an FHR of 60-80 gallons.

A toilet that continuously runs after flushing is usually caused by a faulty flapper valve, which controls water flow from the tank to the bowl. If the flapper is warped, worn, or not sealing properly, water will continue to leak into the bowl, causing the toilet to run. Other potential issues include a malfunctioning fill valve or an incorrectly adjusted float. To fix this, a plumber will inspect the toilet’s internal components and replace any faulty parts, ensuring that the toilet functions properly and efficiently.

Popping noises in a water heater are typically caused by sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank. Over time, minerals from the water, particularly in areas with hard water, can accumulate inside the tank. When the water heats up, it causes the sediment to pop or crackle. This can reduce the efficiency of your water heater and potentially lead to damage if not addressed. To fix this, a plumber usually performs a tank flush to remove the sediment. Regular maintenance, including flushing the tank once a year, can prevent this issue and extend the life of your water heater.

Chemical drain cleaners can effectively clear minor clogs, but they come with risks and should be used cautiously. These cleaners typically contain harsh chemicals, such as lye or sulfuric acid, which can harm your plumbing system, especially if used frequently. They can corrode pipes, especially older or PVC pipes, and damage fixtures. Additionally, chemical drain cleaners can pose health risks if they come into contact with your skin or eyes, and their fumes can be harmful if inhaled.
